Arista Networks $ANET: 20% Below Target With AI Tailwinds Building
YouTube finance is buzzing on networking names while X is debating whether Cloudflare's valuation is a feature or a bug

While everyone is staring at $NVDA and arguing about whether AI is overhyped, a quieter trade is building in the networking layer beneath all that compute. This week, KKM Financial's Jeff Kilburg appeared on CNBC flagging three names he calls his Nothing But Net Q4 picks: $ANET (Arista Networks), $NET (Cloudflare), and $FTNT (Fortinet). The buzz landed immediately on X, where the post spawned hundreds of replies, mostly split between Arista believers and Cloudflare skeptics.
Here is the actual trade-worthy part. Kilburg called $ANET the only one of the three trading below its consensus price target, sitting roughly 20% under the $242 analyst target. That is not a small discount in a market where Nasdaq is up 18% year-to-date and mega-cap tech has been doing the heavy lifting. Bloomberg's own data showed Nvidia, Broadcom, and Microsoft drove nearly 50% of S&P returns on a single Monday session, which means anything priced attractively in the broader AI infrastructure stack deserves a second look. Arista is that second look.
Then there is $FTNT, which is the momentum story of the trio. Up 130% year-to-date with a forward PE of 53x, Fortinet is not cheap by any stretch, but cybersecurity demand is not cooling down. A separate CNBC segment featured the former White House CIO warning that AI-enabled cyberattacks now operate at machine speed rather than human speed, with autonomous agents spinning up malicious programs without any human in the loop. That is a tailwind for the entire security stack, and Fortinet sits squarely in it. Kilburg also holds $CRWD and $PANW for extra cybersecurity diversification, which tells you how seriously he is treating this theme.
Now the bear case, and it is a real one. $NET trades at a forward PE near 300x and is already above its $350 price target. Kilburg stayed bullish on it anyway, which is either conviction or cope depending on your risk tolerance. On X, the Cloudflare debate is basically a religion war at this point: growth-at-any-price bulls versus the yield-reality crowd pointing at a 10-year Treasury sitting at 5.28%. When your risk-free rate is above 5%, justifying a 300x multiple requires a very large amount of faith in a very specific future.
The macro backdrop is genuinely tricky here. Bloomberg's David Savage noted that investors are sheltering in lower-leverage, higher-margin tech businesses precisely because rate-sensitive cyclicals are getting squeezed by elevated yields. That framing actually helps Arista and Fortinet, both of which have real earnings and cash flow to point at. It helps Cloudflare considerably less. Watch the 10-year: if it pushes toward 5.5%, the 300x PE names are going to have a rough autumn, and Arista starts looking even smarter by comparison.
The networking layer is quietly becoming the most interesting battleground in AI infrastructure, and right now most of the retail noise is still one floor up arguing about chips.
