Wall Street on Pause: S&P, Dow, Nasdaq Flatline as Iran Turmoil and AI Mania Cancel Each Other Out
Major indexes are frozen—blame war, tech, and too much BBQ.

If you checked your portfolio this morning and asked, 'Did the market take a summer holiday?' you’re not alone. S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq have been flatter than the Kansas plains—zero movement, zero drama, zero dopamine. It’s the financial equivalent of the elevator music no one asked for.
Why the nap? Social feeds are dominated by two *tiny* topics: AI euphoria (SpaceX joining the Nasdaq 100, anyone?) and international panic over Iran’s week-long mass funeral for Khamenei, with every headline sounding like the start of a Tom Clancy novel. People are mourning, missiles are flying (literally—shoutout to the Hormuz Strait), and yet the VIX is comatose. Not to mention a bag of chips now costs $7.29, so equities aren’t alone in staying stubbornly elevated.
Blame patriotic distractions, war uncertainty, or everyone finally OD’ing on AI takes for July 4th. Either way, if you wanted fireworks in the market, you’ll have to settle for the ones over the Mall. Even SpaceX can’t launch this trading day into orbit.
