Dan Ives: AI Chip Demand Outpaces Supply 13:1 Until 2029
YouTube's top finance voices are broadly bullish on AI infrastructure, but disagree on whether the Fed is about to crash the party

If YouTube's finance creators agreed on everything, markets would be boring. Lucky for us, this week delivered a full spectrum of takes, from Dan Ives comparing AI infrastructure to building the Las Vegas Strip, to jeremiah babe screaming into the void about fake jobs data. Both can't be entirely right. Let's sort the signal from the noise.
The AI Buildout Is the Only Story That Matters (For Now)
Dan Ives, now at Yorkville Ives, dropped the most quoted line of the week on Bloomberg: chip demand is outpacing supply at roughly 13 to 14 to 1, with equilibrium nowhere in sight until 2028 or early 2029. His framing, that hyperscalers are the big casinos on the Las Vegas Strip and everyone else is scrambling for real estate, is both vivid and accurate. Bloomberg Tech backed this up with Morgan Stanley thematic strategist Michelle Weaver confirming AI compute remains severely undersupplied, with labor and power as the two primary bottlenecks. $CRWV surging 19% on a $104 billion backlog and $25 billion in new post-period commitments is not a rumor. It is a data point. The bull case on AI infrastructure is not faith-based right now. It is balance-sheet-based.
The Bear Cave: Inflation, Jobs, and a $432 Billion Deficit Month
Jeremiah Babe would like a word. His channel's latest video challenges the official 3.4% CPI figure as deeply understated, and while his delivery skews apocalyptic, the underlying data he cites is real. The US budget deficit hit $432.3 billion in July alone, already surpassing the full-year 2025 total with five months still on the clock. Job numbers have been revised lower in 21 of the last 30 months, totaling over 1.05 million removed jobs. Bank of America's Aditya Bhave on CNBC went further, maintaining a call for three Fed rate hikes in September, October, and December, arguing the Fed needs to claw back the 75 basis points of cuts it handed out when things looked rosier. That is not a consensus view, but it is not a fringe one either.
Where the Creators Actually Agree
Beneath the noise, a few themes show up across channels regardless of ideology. One: the K-shaped economy is real and not getting better fast. Bloomberg's Rebecca Homkes noted CEOs grow more worried the closer their business gets to the end consumer, while infrastructure and data center plays see nothing but green. Two: healthcare is quietly breaking out. Jeff DeGraaf on CNBC flagged improving relative strength in biotech, pharma, and life sciences after years of underperformance. Three: Ed Yardeni remains the most consistently bullish credible voice in the room, raising his S&P 500 target to 8,400 and calling this an earnings-led melt-up driven by FIMO (fabulous earnings momentum, his term, not ours).
Jim Roppel on Investor's Business Daily put it most plainly: 42% bearish sentiment against near all-time-high price action is a contradiction that historically resolves upward, not downward. A 9 to 10% Nasdaq pullback is, by his math, just Tuesday.
The AI strip is still being built. The casinos are printing money. And the bears are arguing about whether the cocktail napkins are real.
